Thankful Thursday

More busy days, y’all!

Monday and Tuesday whipped by like nobody’s business. Yesterday seemed to drag a little, but that was fine. There was a lot to be done. I still have quite a few things to wrap up before the end of the work week. I feel like one of those wind-up toys. Spinning, spinning, spinning, then… Slooooowlyyyyy spiiiiinniiiiing. I have to finish everything before the wind-up power is gone and I’ve slowed to a halt.

Anyway, it’s THURSDAAAAAYYYYY! I’m thankful for:

  • Bright colours
  • Take-out dinner last night (Does NOT happen often)
  • Dessert
  • Cool run spots
  • The world of information at my fingertips (aka internet)
  • The weekend coming up
  • My Neo2 (will be put to work this evening between work and a meeting)
  • Breakfast for dinner (tonight!)
  • New shoes (bought last weekend)
  • Planners/Calendars
  • Breathing exercises (They really DO have an amazing effect)
  • Good books
  • Critique group
  • Discovering two great tv shows: Modern Family and Downton Abbey
Here’s a song that has a really interesting song, humorous lyrics, and a strange feel-goodness about it:
I neeeeeed to get it in iTunes and on my Running playlist. LOVE it.

Lots of questions for you today. Answer one, some, or all of ’em in comments. 🙂 What’s going on in your world? Is your week flying by, or dragging on? What are you thankful for? Is there a song you’re really diggin’ right now?

Lunch. Greek chicken pita with a side salad.

No idea. I don’t do much arguing.

I don’t like peanut butter, but if I did, I wouldn’t put butter on first.

5. One of your stuffed animals’ names as a kid?

Junior. Lol.

*bursts into song* It’s beeeen one week since ya looked at me, cocked your head to the side and said, “I’m angry”

7. Favorite day of the week?

Used to be Sunday… Now, I think it may be Saturday. Or Monday. I like fresh starts. Saturday and Monday are both fresh starts for me.

Sunday Stealing: The Never Ending Meme Part II

YAY for fun little things to do that make nice, light blog posts. I need these a LOT these days. Hope my readers aren’t getting tired of the little tidbits about me. 🙂 Never Ending Meme Part Two, y’all. And no, you didn’t miss part one. I haven’t done it yet. Hahaha. I’m so cool and quirky.

Sunday Stealing: The Never Ending Meme, Part Two

Cheers to all of us thieves!

21. Did you go to your high school prom?

I went to a Christian high school that didn’t have dances or anything like that. We had a BANQUET, not a prom. I went. By the time I was dressed and done up and took photos, I couldn’t care less about actually attending the stupid dinner, but of course, I had to. My mother spent a ridiculous amount of money on the night. To give you an idea, my dress cost about $600. You bet your navy blue and white knickers I went.

22. Perfect time to wake up?

7am. Time I actually NEED to get up (when I have a car)? 6:30am.

23. Perfect time to go to bed?

11pm. Time I actually go to bed? Varies. A LOT. It is far more often too early than it is too late.

24. Do you use your queen right away in chess?

Nope!

25. Ever been in a car accident?

Yes.

26. Closer to mom or dad…or neither?

Depends on the day of the week. Lol.

27. What age is this exciting life over for you?

Huh?!

28. What decade during the 20th century would you have chosen to be a teenager?

The freaking 70s! I wish I could be in my 20s in the 80s! Hell! I’d even settle for being a teenage in the 80s, and in my 20s in the 90s. It’s ALL good.

29. Favorite shoes you have EVER owned?

Not big on shoes. AT ALL. I guess that most excited I’ve ever been about shoes was fifth grade. My mum bought me a pair of brown mary janes that had a thick, high-ish (relative to my age) heel. They were pretty cool.

30. Do you have an article of clothing you have had since you were in high school?

Yep. I have some of my t-shirts from my 6th grade class trip. I’ll take a photo and post some time.

31. Were you in track and field?

Hahahahahahahahhaha. AAahahahahahahahahahaha. Hahahahahahhahahahahaha. Good one.

32. Were you ever in a school talent show?

Nope. I was in the Christmas plays a few times though.

33. Have you ever written in a library book?

Nope.

34. Allergic to?

Stupidity.

I had an allergy to brown rice (an ingredient that snuck up on me in biscuits and stuff) at some point. It made me break out. My parents took me to a super expensive doctor who neutralized me to it with some machine. *shrugs*

35. Favorite fruit?

Tough call. Gonna go with mango. 🙂

You already know I do things my own way. I guess I’ll do part one later in the week. Lol. If you decide to do this, link back! 🙂

The Madness Meme

Questions taken from  this post at Sunday Stealing

1. Have you ever licked the back of a CD to try to get it to work?

Um. Gross. No. I’ve breathed on them. And wiped them with my shirt. But with my tongue? Tongue wiping? Gross. No.

2. What’s the largest age difference between yourself and someone you’ve dated?

Ummm… 7 years, I think. If that even counts. It was a long time ago, and there was very little actual “dating,” and then it turned into a stalker situation. Fun.

3. Ever been in a car wreck?

Yes. Had a pretty bad accident in my mother’s car in ’05. Two idiots came at me on the road, and in swerving to avoid them, I hit a lamppole. I was trying to turn into some bushes, but the wheel locked on me. I was only able to turn about 20% of the way. The car was done. I was fine.

4. Were you popular in high school?

My high school, grades 7 to 12, had a total of 400 students. My grad class had, I think, 52 people. Does popularity or unpopularity exist with those kinds of numbers? Everyone in my grade definitely knew me, and I was well-liked.

5. Have you ever been on a blind date?

Nope.

6. Are looks important?

Yep. Looks are not the most important thing ever, but they do carry some weight. Appearance, overall, is rather important. More than just the gene pool. The way you carry yourself. It says a lot.

7. Do you have any friends that you’ve known for 10 years or more?

Yeah. That would be Olivia. We were in kindergarten together. We still chat now and then, and do what we can to hang out every few months. We live on a rock, and still can’t manage to do much better than that. Life is like that.

8. By what age would you like to be married?

It’s definitely more about place-in-life than age. If I had to choose an age, this age would have been it. At this point, I just don’t know. I’d like to be married when the time is right. When we’re both satisfied, happy, thrilled, and excited to be together forever. And we have the necessary $$$ to make it happen. I know what that means for me, but I’m not sure what (exactly) it means for her. There are more factors being considered on her side, I think. Me? I don’t need to be rich. I don’t need my family to throw us a big party. I don’t need family support or attendance. Nothing like that. It wouldn’t bother me, not flashing it all over the place (since this country and a lot of the people in it are crazy/super-religious/hateful/homophobic/judgmental). Just to know that we’re happy and in love, and made that commitment to each other. Cheesy? Maybe. 🙂

9. Does the number of people a person’s slept with affect your view of them?

Honestly… Yes.

10. Have you ever made a mistake?

I think it’s funny that this question comes on the heels of the one before it. *laughs quietly* Yes.

11. Are you a good tipper?

I try to be. 20% is the usual for me. If the service is poor, I’m less inclined to tip, but WILL leave a tip. A minimal tip.

12. What’s the most you have spent for a haircut?

Hmmm… I’m not sure. My haircuts are usually $10 at the barber. Back in the day, when I did styles, I didn’t JUST get haircuts. I got colours and treatments and stuff. Hard to say. Maybe $30? $40? I don’t know.

13. Have you ever had a crush on a teacher?

Well… There was this one prof… She was very well-educated, great speaker, engaging, and rather hott. If the opportunity presented itself, I don’t know that I would have taken advantage of it. Is that really a crush? Admiration? Hmmm…

14. Have you ever peed in public?

Public restrooms. That’s about it.

15. What song do you want played at your funeral?

Uh… Morbid, much? I have no idea. I won’t be there (really), so I don’t care. Play some Notorius B.I.G. for all I care. My family would never allow that, by the way. LOL.

16. Would you tell your parents if you were gay?

I am. I didn’t. They guessed (or were not-so-subtly informed). I didn’t deny. They know. They pretend they don’t. I let it ride.

17. What would your last meal be before getting executed?

I’m one of those gotta-have-it-all people. I’d like potatoes every possible way, stuffed chicken breast, a sampling of every veggie, a california roll, a spring roll, shrimp tempura, Ma’s macaroni, Auntie’s raisin bread with a LITTLE of her guava jam, Nicole’s chocolate cream pie, Auntie’s bran muffins, mother’s corn ‘n’ rice with a chicken wing, minced lobster, and potato salad, Babe’s salad, a mango-kiwi-strawberry smoothie… We’re not even at dessert yet.

18. Beatles or Stones?

Tough callllllll. Stones.

19. If you had to pick one person on earth to die, who would it be?

Whoever has knowingly been the cause of the most unnecessary, undeserved pain and misfortune? Either that person, or a certain evil relative.

20. Beer, wine or hard liquor?

What could ever be hard about liquor?!

It depends on what I’m having it with. If I’m having a nice dinner, then wine. If I’m out partying, tequila shots. 🙂 I don’t like beer.

21. Do you have any phobias?

Yeah. Having to do with most all animals. Not being good enough. Is that a phobia? Mediocriphobia? Anyway… Hunger.

22. What are your plans for the future?

To LIVE. The best way I can. To improve. Always.

If you decide to answer the question, link back! 🙂

Friday Questions

Another Question Friday. Five Question Friday isn’t really my flavour this week. I don’t like when the questions are super seasonal. And I’m not really feeling Christmas this year, so I don’t feel like answering questions about it. Instead, I’m doing Part One of a Meme I did Part Two of last week. Because I’m backwards like that when I’m good ‘n’ ready.

Sooo, coming to you straight from Sunday Stealing (who stole it themselves), here are the questions and answers for today:

1) If the whole world were listening to you right now, what would you say?

Walk in love. Keep that at the front and the back of your mind. In all things, do what is right. Be prepared to take responsibility for all things said, done, left unsaid, and left undone. Help when you can. Recognize when you can’t. Sometimes you will be the head. At other times, you will be the tail. This does not make you greater or less than anyone else. Allow yourself to feel. Think before you respond to feelings. Show appreciation. Compliment. Laugh. Share. Guard your health. Care for your body. Live without regrets. Make memories.

2) If you could meet anyone on this earth, who would it be?

The person has to be on earth now? Living?  Hmmm… There’s really no one that I care to meet celebrity-wise. I’m really nonchalant about that stuff. The only person I’ve ever wanted to meet is the love of my life, and… Well… Done. On a different sort of level, I’d like to meet all of my blog buddies. 🙂

3) You just got a free plane ticket to anywhere. You have to depart right now. Where are you gonna go?

If I can live there legally, Canada. I don’t even care what part. Just Canada. If it’s just for a visit, almost anywhere. I guess it should be somewhere with similar temperature to Nassau right now, since I don’t have time to pack anything else. And it has to be cheap because I don’t have much $$$. Lol. Cuba would be a good choice right about now.

4) What do you think about most?

Tough call. Somewhere between having a good, comfortable family life, accomplishing my running goal, and managing to write every day… Making all of these things instead of just thinking about them.

TaDa

5) You have the opportunity to spend a romantic night with the music celebrity of your choice. Who would it be?

TOO EASY. *giggles*

They call her “TaDa” where she’s from. Check Her Sexiness out in this video.

6) You can erase any horrible experience from your past. What will it be?

Nothing, really. It was all worth the tears, pain, inconvenience, and drama.

7) What’s your strangest talent?

I don’t really consider myself talented in any area. *shrugs*

8) What would be a question you’d be afraid to tell the truth on?

There really isn’t anything that I’m afraid to honestly talk about. I guess I shy away from divulging full details about sensitive things involving other people, for their sakes.

9) Ever had a poem or song written about you?

Not that I remember. Poor me. Cry for me.

10) When is the last time you played the air guitar?

Prooobably never.

11) Do you have any strange phobias?

Ummm… No?

12) What’s your religion?

Walk in love.

13) What is your current desktop picture?

The part of the bikes we’re auctioning at work that has our logo on it. It looks really cool. On my MacBook, it’s a picture of palm trees against the sky. I think it’s a pretty cool picture.

14) When you are outside, what are you most likely doing?

Walking to the nearest form of fuel-powered transportation.

15) What’s the last song you listened to?

Whip My Hair – Willow. 🙂

16) Simple but extremely complex. Favorite band?

Ummm… My answer to questions like this is different every time I answer, just so you know. Today, the answer to this question is No Doubt. (I think this is because P!nk is playing right now and, somehow, she reminds me of Gwen Stefani (I don’t freaking no why), and Gwen is cool, and was in No Doubt… So yeah. Thought process revealed.)

17) What was the last lie you told?

I really don’t lie. Ummm… Oh, I told my aunt I was almost done eating the muffins she gave me. Because I was about to almost be done eating them all, and I wanted her to save some for me so I could get MORE. So I lie to get food. Judge me.

18) Do you believe in karma?

By another name, I guess.

19) What is a saying you say a lot?

I’m asking Babe for the answer to this.

Hahahahaha. She says, “I don’t care.”

That’s so TRUE. AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA.

And I really don’t.

Care, that is. 🙂

20) What is your greatest weakness; your greatest strength?

See above. Honestly.

Toni Braxton

21) Who is your celebrity crush?

Aside from TaDa? Ummm… Toni Braxton. Babe says Julia Roberts too. I gueeessssss. Lol.

22) Give me the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word: heart.

Love.

23) How do you vent your anger?

I don’t get angry, really. I get upset and frustrated. How do I vent, though? Hmmm… Cry? Tell Babe whatever is going on. I don’t yell and throw stuff or anything crazy like that.

24) Do you have a collection of anything?

Not any more, no. I’ll probably start collecting all things elephant and turtle.

25) What is your favorite word?

I’ve been using “asswipe” a lot lately. I think that’s directly related to the amount of driving I’ve been doing. It happens when you’re driving in this place. People are so stupid on the road. That’s not my favourite word though. Hmmm… I really like the word “amazing.”

I’d like to note that I was asking Babe’s permission for something in this post, and her response, before hearing the entire question, was, “Anything you want, Babe.” She said that’s her new phrase. Ahahahaha. This is after she asked me what her most used saying is and my response was, “No.” Ahahahaha. Get it? No? I guess ya had to be there.

Feel free to participate in Five Question Friday or Sunday Stealing. The links are way up at the top of the post. If you do either one, leave your link here so I can read your answers. 🙂

Questions from Sunday Stealing

If you’re here looking for my answers to the Community Meme 2011, head over to Flavor Internationale where I posted my answers. I did it late because I had things to deal with on the weekend. If not, you can still check it out, but read this post too!

You already know I LOVE answering interesting questions. I stole these from Sunday Stealing. No, I don’t feel bad about it.

26) Are you happy with the person you’ve become?

YES! It took me a while to get here, but I’m here. And loving it. Thankful for the getting-away-from-the-family experience. I really needed it to come into my own. I was too busy being who people thought I was and/or who people thought I should be to ever really get to know me. Isn’t that crazy?! I had to go two countries north to have enough space to grow.

27) What’s a sound you hate; sound you love?

I hate the sound of pencils on paper, cardboard scraping cardboard… That type of thing. I love the sound of the ocean.

28) What’s your biggest “what if”?

Hmmm… What if I never went off to school?! My gooossshhh. TRAGIC! Seriously. Oh, wait. What if I never took a chance, never opened up, never siezed an opportunity? I’d have missed out on education, amazing experiences, perfect love… Oh, man. WHAT IF?!

29) Do you believe in ghosts?

I believe in spirits. Scary creeping things in white? No.

30) How about aliens?

I believe in the possibility of the existence of aliens. I also believe that I am part alien. And that’s okay.

31) What is the single best decision you have made in your life so far?

To allow myself to be open.

32) What’s the worst place you have ever been to?

A place called “Alone.” People say it’s okay to be alone… Just not lonely. And that there is a difference. Let me tell you… The human condition… It is such that it requires that we do not live unto, into, or by ourselves. That’s just the way that it is. And if you are ALONE… With no one else around, no one to talk to, no one to lean on, no one to laugh with… Darlin’, you are LONELY. Maybe not for a day or a week, but you stay in that situation for an extended period of time, and BELIEVE me… You will intimately know LONELY.

And I am NOT talking about boyfriend/girlfriend-boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. I’m speaking in a broad sense.

33) Can insanity bring on more creativity?

Ever watched Pollack? Hahaha. If you did, you’d know that the answer is YES. Now, does it ALWAYS bring on more creativity? NO.

34) Most attractive actor of your opposite gender?

I’m not good with actors’ names. And I’m not good at recalling people with any particular quality. Good looks, nice hair, best speaking voice… Nothing like that. Not on demand. So I’m stumped.

35) To you, what is the meaning of life?

You can find the meaning of “life” in any dictionary. What is to be questioned is the PURPOSE of life.

As far as a definition goes, maybe life is just the time between birth and death. Maybe it’s the word that describes a way of living. Maybe it’s characterized by abilities to breathe, move, respond, reproduce, etc. *shrugs* So many possible definitions. In my opinion, just breathing isn’t living. It’s not enough. So by that, life can’t just be breath. Right?

36) Define “Art”.

Open to interpretation. A name given to the innumerable ways of representing people, places, things, and ideas. A way of sending a particular message. The transfer of a dream, vision, and/or feeling to a tangible shared piece. The act of birthing the intangible into a 3D world.

37) Do you believe in luck?

Probably. By another name. Or term. I believe in the power of the universe. I believe in the cycle. In reaping what is sown. Even so, I believe in chance. And possiblity. I believe in cause and effect. And choice.

38) In your opinion, what makes a great relationship?

Great people, for starters. Honesty, trust, loyalty, and friendship work together to make a great foundation. Everything else is just aesthetic. Depends on the taste of the people in the relationship.

39) What’s a song that always makes you happy when you hear it?

Ummm… This is another one of those things that I can’t think of on the spot. I have to hear the song to know. Hella Good by No Doubt is playing right now. This makes me feel good. 🙂

40) Where were you yesterday?

Yesterdaaayyy… Spent the first part of the day at home with Babe. The afternoon and early evening were spent at the hospital with my mum. Then back home to Babe.

41) What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?

Horrid infection that almost ate away my entire ear. Sexy.

42) Do you have any obsessions right now?

The idea of writing. I have to say “the idea” of it because I haven’t been doing enough of it. I just think about it a lot. Fantastize about it. I WANNA do it. It’s just the tiiiiime. I have great space to do it in. I just need life to chiiillllll for a minute.

43) What’s up?

I’m at work. Printing the last of over 400 envelopes. I’ll be spending the afternoon (and probably part of tomorrow) folding letters and stuffing the envelopes. Babe is here too. Working away. Our lunch order didn’t get placed in time, so we’re gonna run out a little earlier and grab food.

I just called my aunt (my dad’s aunt) to see what’s up. She said my uncle (my mother’s twin brother) called to say he’s taking her there (from the hospital) at 2pm. WOOHOO! She’s getting out of there! A part of me is a bit afraid. I don’t know how it’s gonna go. My aunt is great, and she’ll make sure mum eats on time and everything, but she’s over 70. She can’t hold my mother’s body weight up. I don’t know how she’s going to get to and from the bathroom. She’s still only making about 15 (tiny) steps at a time, and in about 3 minutes. Maybe we’ll have to buy a commode for her.

I don’t know. I don’t wanna stress. I just want things to be okay. *breathes*

44) Ever had a rumor spread about you?

Probably. *shrugs*

45) Do you believe in real magic?

No. But I DO believe in FAKE magic. What the hell kinda question… LOL.

46) Do you ever hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?

I have, yes. I don’t any more. I’ve learned that it’s harder on me than it is on them. I’d rather free them if it means that I can free myself. I don’t wanna go around carrying unnecessary baggage/burdens. Let it go, let it go, let it go. Nothing is so serious that I have to take it around with me.

47) What’s your favorite (non-pet) animal?

ELEPHANTS!

48) What is your secret weapon to get people to like you?

I don’t have one. This is likely because I don’t care. 🙂

49) Where is your best friend?

Right here. 🙂

50) What do you think is Satan’s last name?

Dedogdemon.

Friday Questions

Questionnnnssss. You know I love ’em. Today, I stole questions from here, but it’s okay because they stole ’em from here anyway.

1. Why did you sign up for writing your blog?

To join the Cool Club. To stop killing GF with my random talk. To stop trying to cram a full page into 140 characters on Twitter. To have fun. To interact with people all over the place.

2. Why did you choose your blog’s name? What does it mean?

Conch salad is one of my favourite things. Ever. IT’s yummy and great and pretty, and has lots of different ingredients, and it’s all mixed up. Just like my blog. BAM.

3. Do you own another blog?

Yes. Cake Walks & Ice Cream Runs is suffering right now. Mostly because I can’t seem to get out and run. The darkness of the evening and lack of a car make it impossible to do while being safe.

4. What do you do online when you’re not on your blog?

I don’t blog at night, actually. I spend time with the GF. We eat (dinner and snacks), watch movies, talk, cuddle, sleep… Ya know… The good stuff in life.

5. How about when you’re not on the computer?

There are things to do off of the computer? *waits for answer*

6. What do you wish people who read your blog knew about you?

Ummm… There’s not much that I don’t share with them.

7. What is your favorite community in the blogosphere?

Favourite community? What?

8. What is your philosophy on your blog layout?

Pretty. Reflective of what it is. Simple. Easy navigation. Clean.

9. Tell me about your picture you use to represent you on your blog.

It’s a picture of me. Um… It’s me.

10. Pick 3 random blogs from your blogroll and tell us about them.

Not gonna lie… I’m too lazy for this right now. This requires going to ANOTHER page, clicking links, typing here, linking it up… Just no.

11. What features do you think your blog should have that it doesn’t currently?

Being able to embed friggin’ YouTube videos like I used to be able to do, dang it!

12. What do you consider the 10 most “telling” interests that we would infer from what you blog persona?

  1. Food (generally)
  2. Writing
  3. Cupcakes
  4. Self-improvement
  5. Life
  6. Healthy + Happy Living
  7. Music
  8. Funny Stuff
  9. Cycling
  10. Running

That was harder than I thought it would be.

13. Do you have any unique interests that you have never shared before? What are they?

Ummm… The sun and moon. They are SO cool. Hmmm… What else? The effect of technology and its advancements on people (including use of brain, manners, and interaction with others)

14. The best thing about blogging is all of the friends that you make. Beside from those folks, do you think your blog has fans?

Besides that friends I make that I clearly made by having this blog?! What the hell kinda question… *leaves*

15. What’s your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?

Ummm… Running. It’s just crazy that the body can do it. And the effect on the body and brain. It’s some freeing, crazy thing. The adrenaline. The euphoria. It’s just crazy. And great.

16. What are you glad you did but haven’t really had a chance to post about?

Submitted my short story to a competition. Maybe I posted about it. I don’t know. We got our new furniture yesterday. SOOO happy! I LOVE our new 3-piece living room set. I’ll share pictures soon. Maybe not until Christmas. Since it’s our Christmas present to ourselves (and each other), and I’ll probably do a post with Christmas prezzies.

17. How many people that first became a blog friend, have you met face to face?

Zero. This is still new.

18. What don’t you talk about here, either because it’s too personal or because you don’t have the energy?

I don’t talk much about my family (the intricacies and inner-workings) because it’s so crazy, intense, weird, and untraditional. It’s a lot to absorb and understand, and I’d have to write a book for it to make ANY sense at ALL.

I also don’t talk much about GF. That’s totally because I don’t think she wants me to. I’d love to share pictures, and let you see the awesomeness that is her, and her amazing work… But it would reveal her identity, and that would just be bad. She doesn’t wanna be on the radar. *sighs* She has her reasons.

19. What’s a question that you’d love to answer?

Hmmm… What would make the world a better place?

20. Have you ever lost a blogging friendship and regretted it?

No.

21. Have you ever lost a blogging friendship and thought, “Was that overdue!”

No.

Well, that was… Interesting. A little anti-climatic even? *shrugs* Anyway. That’s that! Hope you’re having a great Friday!

If you wanna answer the questions, do it in your own post, and link back here! I wanna read it. 🙂

Five Question Friday

1. What is your favorite Christmas decoration in your house?
I don’t have anything but two stockings in my house. So they’re my favourite. The pair of Christmas stockings for Babe and me.
2. Do you finish your Christmas shopping early or are you a last minute type?
My Christmas shopping came to an abrupt halt due to unforeseen circumstances. I hope to get back on it and finish up by the end of next weekend. I think I have to cut a few things out, to avoid being flat broke for the month of December. Generally, I like to be done by this time.
3. When do you turn on your heat?
In The Bahamas?! Ahahahahahahahahha. Ahahahahahhaha. Hahahhahaha. Ha.
4. Do you ever wish your blog was private?
No. Then I’d just have a journal. *shrugs*
You know what was cool though? In uni, I had a LiveJournal. That was neat (seriously… I thought “neat”… Is this 1992?) because you could make posts public, private, friends only, or even select the people you wanted posts to be visible too.
5. Do you put your deodorant on before of after you put on your shirt?
Depends on the shirt. Most of the time, after.

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to blog much this weekend. It’s a weird time. I’m trying to carry on as usual, but aside from it being difficult, I’ve been feeling very tired, and my ability to focus is just… On vacation. I’m hoping to get out at some point tomorrow and do something nice or fun or something, but not expensive. I feel like I need a break. A diversion of sorts. Hope you have a great weekend!

I Know It’s Monday, But…

Five Question Friday

1. Is there a special dish you prepare that you are famous for?
I don’t get to do much cooking these day. Babe and I are working with a one-burner hotplate at the moment. But hey! We got a gas tank on Saturday. We’ll probably get it filled in the next week or so. THEN, let the kitchen fun begin! Back when I cooked and baked a lot, I was known for nacho dip (which I haven’t made in over a year), chocolate cake of death (named by a youth in the organization I worked for), chicken fettucine alfredo, and Bahamian-style macaroni (baked with cheese, eggs, and milk).
2. Are you (did you) go Black Friday shopping ?
No Black Friday shopping for me. I hate shopping on a regular day. Dealing with the crowds mobs and standing in long lines are even less exciting to me. I do as much as possible online. And early. The only rush I wanna feel around this time of year is JUNKANOO. (Before the holiday season is over, I’ll post about Junkanoo. ‘Cause I love it.)
3. What are your strangest holiday traditions?
I don’t know if I have any…
4. Pecan or pumpkin pie?
I really really don’t like pie. Well, except for CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE, ’cause it’s freaking amazing. It totally doesn’t count as pie. The crust is oreos, for goodness’ sake. If I had to choose a pie, I guess I’d go with pecan? Because pumpkin is stupid. It does not taste. It is not tasted. It has no taste. It is just there. Who wants a pie that tastes like pumpkin nothing? Not me. Pecan pie sounds kinda weird though. It is like… A puree or paste of pecans that fills the pie crust? Are there crunchy bits in it? I don’t get it.

5. When will you put up your Christmas tree?
I was gonna do it on the weekend. That changed. We’re not gonna put up a tree this year. Thought it through, regrouped, prioritized… There are some other things on the go right now. Things that are a bit more pressing. So we’re gonna take care of some business instead. We have stockings though! Personalized. 🙂

What are your answers? You can leave them in the comments, or leave a link to your own post with answers.

In case I don’t get a chance to come back and post today, Happy Monday, y’all! Make your to-do lists, prioritize, get in gear, and enjoy! 🙂

Five Question Friday

1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?
Hmmm… Not really. I just have a really good cry-it-out song. LOL. There are lots of songs that put me in a good mood though. I like feel-good songs. And I like silly, fun songs. But they have to make sense. I know, I know. Don’t tell me.
So here are a few songs that I really, really like:

– Firework – Katy Perry

– Ride With Me – Nelly (I’d forgotten about this song until it was played loudly by a neighbour. I think Babe and I were in bed reading. I stopped. To sing. WITH ACTIONS. Yes, it was great. Lol.

– I’m Every Woman – Whitney Houston (I sorta get this song. I sorta don’t. I’m ONE woman. But it IS all in me. Heee-eeeey!)

– I Believe in a Thing Called Love – The Darkness (I think the combo of the song title and the name of the group is hilarious.)

– A Milli – Lil Wayne (Don’t look at me like that. You know you love it. *turns it up*)

– Sexy Back – Justin Timberlake

– Stronger – Kanye West

– Maneater – Nelly Furtado

– Fly Away – Lenny Kravitz

Ok, ok. I’ll stop there. 🙂

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real fake one?
REAL. Fake is not an option at ALL. I’d rather not have a tree at all than to have one of those IMPOSTERS in my living space. REEEAL. Lemme SMELL the season. Lemme sweep up the 4,582,595 pine needles that will far over the course of the 2 weeks that the tree will be in my house. That’s fine.

3. What are you thankful for?
Today, I’m thankful for the ever-beautiful, ever-supportive LOML, computer skills (I seriously saved myself HOURS today), my new giant green mug, happiness, and time.
I missed this in m Thankful Thursday: I had a GREAT weekend with Babe. We went to an art workshop, and fancy wine dinner. I will seriously post about it later. Seriously.

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?
None. I wear whatever I want. I don’t care what the people say. (Are those lyrics from a song? I’m not sure.) I was telling Babe last night that I think should have been born in the 60s. I am definitely an 80s girl, and I should have been this age in that decade. Headbands, polkadots, bright colours, fun prints, Madonna… Yeah. That’s me. It should have been my life.

5. Do you wait until the “low fuel” light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?
No. I’m paranoid (not really) about running out of gas. I hate the idea of having to call my dad saying, “Help. I ran out of gas.” More than that, I hate the imagined response from him. I never want to deal with that. Whenever I have a car for an extended period of time, I keep the tank at half. Anything under that makes me a bit nervous.
