A random, eclectic mix of thoughts, feelings, observations, and experiences – LIFE

Thankful Thursday

The past week and a half have been crazy. If you don’t know how/why, read this, this, and this.

Still, I am thankful. There are always little things, and sometimes big things, that kick us in the butts…. Give us trouble, make us sad, push is to the edge, etc. I’m pretty sure that there’s is ALWAYS. STILL. SOMEthing to be thankful for. In my case, I always have a bunch of things to be thankful for. In true Thursday fashion, I’m gonna show (some of) ’em off to you. Here goes…

  • Ma (my great-grandmother who just turned 92) is back from her cruise, safe and sound.
  • Sunday dinners at Ma’s will commence on the weekend (She was away for the last two Sundays).
  • Mum is on the mend. Still in hospital, still not walking on her own, still painful, but ALIVE. Getting better. More coherent. Able to hold conversations. Eating. Thanks to the doctor, awesome nurses and PCTs, meds, visitors, prays/well-wishes/positive thoughts.
  • I have a car to get around. This is due to mum being unable to drive, but hey… I have a car to get around.
  • Babe is AMAZING. So sweet, so caring, so loving, so willing to do whatever she possibly can to make things easier, keep us happy, healthy, well-fed, etc. I am super duper blessed beyond explanation!
  • Work is great. Lots going on. I’m busy enough. The people are GREAT and understanding.
  • Our apartment is getting more comfortable. Pictures coming soon-ish.
  • Blog + blog buddies. Y’all are great. Your comments and notes make me happy. Your posts make me laugh, think, learn… It’s great.
  • Hope floats.
  • Writing. Free therapy. Aaahh!
  • Hearing this song at the right time on the right day.

When You Believe – Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey

Many nights we’ve prayed
With no proof anyone could hear
In our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understood

Now we are not afraid
Although we know there’s much to fear
We were moving mountains long
Before we knew we could

There can be miracles, when you believe
Though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

In this time of fear
When prayers so often prove(s) in vain
Hope seems like the summer birds
Too swiftly flown away

Yet now I’m standing here
My heart’s so full I can’t explain
Seeking faith and speaking words
I never thought I’d say

There can be miracles, when you believe
Though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe

They don’t (always happen) when you ask
(Oh)
And it’s easy to give in to your fears
(Oh…Ohhhh)
But when you’re blinded by your pain
Can’t see your way straight throught the rain
(A small but )still resilient voice
Says (hope is very near)
(Ohhh)

There can be miracles
(Miracles)
When you believe
(Lord, when you believe)
Though hope is frail
(Though hope is frail)
It’s hard to kill
(Hard to kill, Ohhh)
Who knows what miracles, you can achieve
When you believe, somehow you will (somehow, somehow, somehow)
somehow you will
You will when you believe

You will when you
You will when you believe
Just believe…in your heart
Just believe
You will when you believe
